Prenatal Massage

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Advanced Therapy

Prenatal massage is not recommended during the first trimester, as this period is crucial for development. I will ask that the expecting mother get clearance from their doctor for massage therapy to ensure there are no overlooked issues. A prenatal massage typically involves the mom lying on her side, supported by various pillows for her head, arms, and knees, providing 90-degree support for her extremities. During our consultation, we will discuss your problem areas. Depending on where you are in your pregnancy journey, you may benefit from a general all-over Swedish massage for relaxation or site-specific work targeting aches and pains in your neck, low back, and calves. Additionally, advanced therapy techniques, such as hot stone massage and lymphatic drainage, may be incorporated later in your term to address specific discomforts.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Lymphatic drainage massage, also referred to as manual lymphatic drainage, is a gentle form of advanced therapy designed to alleviate painful swelling in your arms and legs caused by lymphedema. This condition often affects individuals recovering from various surgeries and injuries. Lymphedema occurs when tissues retain fluid that remains after your cardiovascular system has delivered blood to your organs and tissues. This leftover fluid is known as lymph. Typically, your lymphatic system collects lymph and transports it back to your heart through a network of lymph vessels and lymph nodes. However, when the lymphatic system's process is disrupted, lymph accumulates in your limbs, leading to swelling. Utilizing specialized lymphatic drainage techniques, a massage therapist can help move lymph from your tissues to your lymph nodes, reducing swelling. In addition to lymphatic drainage, other massage types such as hot stone massage, prenatal massage, and Swedish massage can also contribute to overall wellness.

Spine & Palm Hot Stone Swedish

Spine & Palm Hot Stone Swedish

Spine & Palm Hot Stone Swedish

The heat and weight of the stones, when combined with massage techniques, create an advanced therapy that offers a deeply healing and effective experience. The hot stones help to expand blood vessels, and  encourag bood flow in tonic tissues. The sedative effect of the hot stones can sooth general muscular pain, reduce stress, and promote deep relaxation. During this full body Swedish massage I apply 8 medium stones along the spine, 2 large stones at pelvi crest and 2 large stones on your palms. Once the stones are placed while you are face-down, I proceed to your lower extremities to complete the session.
